Troop 376 held its fall Court of Honor on Tuesday, October 25th. Liam M. served as this CoH’s master of ceremonies, leading the Troop in recognizing ten Scouts for earning a collective 36 merit badges, one rank-up (Second Class Scout, Jackson R.), and one Trainer’s EDGE course completion (Aidan K.). (Trainer’s EDGE prepares Scouts to serve as staff at the Wood Badge & NYLT leadership training programs.)
Assistant Scoutmaster Andy Cheung virtually transported those present to the fabled Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico, delivering an engaging presentation of what our Philmont crew experienced during this past summer’s 12-day High Adventure expedition. Crew members in attendance (Tyler B., Seth C., Ryan H., and Matt H.) were presented with their Expedition Arrowhead patches.
We were then honored by a surprise appearance from Westchester County Executive George Latimer, who presented a Certificate of Achievement to Troop 376 “in recognition of outstanding service to the Somers community and the development of youth leaders for our nation’s future“. We thank Mr. Latimer for recognizing our Troop and taking the time to come and speak to our Scouts.
Scoutmaster Matt Kimmel wrapped up the evening with his “Scoutmaster Minute”, highlighting the importance of “raising your hand” to take on new challenges and explore new experiences.
Of course, no good Court of Honor is complete without some refreshments… thanks go out to all the parents who brought snacks and treats for our pot-luck smorgasbord!
We are exceptionally proud of our Scouts for their achievements. Many thanks to those who helped plan and facilitate the event, with special recognition to our Advancement Chair, Joe McGuinness, for diligently keeping track of our Scouts’ achievements.
Our next Court of Honor will be held on Tuesday, March 7th, 2023.
