The last couple of months in 2023 were quite busy for Troop 376! We had a ton of fun and helped serve our community in various ways.

Troop 376 and Somers Cub Scout Pack 1 partnered up to sell food, beverages, and snacks (and hand warmers!) at the 2023 Soccerfest tournament at Reis Park

As part of a collaborative effort with the Town of Somers Parks & Rec department, Troop 376 and Somers Cub Scout Pack 1 teamed up to begin re-blazing trails at Angle Fly Preserve in Somers, NY. 
Troop 376 helped unload Christmas Trees in support of the Somers Volunteer Fire Department annual Christmas Tree sale.

2023 Wrap-Up
Among our end-of-year events, we marched in the Veterans Day Parade, sold food & beverages at the Soccerfest tournament at Reis Park, learned about firearm safety and fired air rifles at Putnam County Fish & Game, unloaded trees for the SVFD’s annual Christmas Tree sale, served hot chocolate and treats at Pack 1’s Model Rocket Day, and held our annual holiday party. The slideshow above captures some moments from these events. The Troop also assisted with two Eagle Scout projects (Matthew Hirsch’s project to add a stairway to a steep hiking path in Rhinoceros Creek, and Ethan Burns’ project to build an agility course at the Somers Dog Park on Route 100).
Looking Ahead…
As we head into 2024, we are looking forward to a nice full program for the back half of the Scouting year! We already started the fun with our second annual “Ping Pong Party” at the Westchester Table Tennis Center in Pleasantville. Local Cub Scout Pack Webelos were invited to join the fun with us. It was indeed a blast! Other events lined up for this year include:
- A winter cabin campout at Camp Read (with skiing option) in February
- A Troop bowling night in early March (open to Somers Webelos)
- A March hiking campout at Ward Pound Ridge
- A trip to Annapolis, MD in April for the US Naval Academy STEM Merit Badge Jamboree
- Additional campouts in May & June
- Additional special events, including marching in the Memorial Day parade, flag replacement at Ivandell Cemetery, our annual Dutch Oven Cookoff, and more!
